What do I do when IIS 5.0 will not start?
After installing / removing applications, or manually removing Client for Microsoft Networks directly, you may find that IIS 5.0 suddenly will not start. Errors that may appear in the event log are:
- The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion; or,
- The authentification service is unknown.
